Police have been busy with some serious detective work and we are putting up
the mugshot of a goofing culprit today. Guess who we caught dropping an advert,
trying so hard to make it funny but ending up with several GOOOFFFFFS? Bovi in
the new diamond bank advert.

ring a bell for the gbagauns in this advert, y’all be having an headache when
you are done reading.
The bank
down the road, by the……? Yeah right. The question should have been;
the Bovi diamond advert, on the……?
Let’s get
straight to the story and the plenty goofing.
THE STORY.
A man is
about to make payment in a store using his cheque book. The cashier or a
friend(I am not sure of his role) asks him to go ahead and write the cheque.
The man complains about the bank charges for the cheque service. Bovi comes in
and asks if it is the bank down the road, by the….. The man and cashier/friend
replies that he is correct. Bovi introduces them to Diamond Bank as a better
option that will give them better services. Bovi brings out the bank’s cheque
book and drops it with them. Bovi walks off.
The next
scene shows a woman seated in a restaurant and on a phone call. She is
complaining about her inability to get a loan from her bank. Bovi serves her
food and sits opposite her. She is startled by him. He asks if it is the bank
down the road, by the….. She replies affirming with a nod. He introduces her to
Diamond bank as a bank where granting of loans is simple. He gives her the
bank’s envelope and leaves.
Final scene
shows Bovi pretending to be an office cleaner dressed in suit. He sneaks into a
worker’s office. The man closes his laptop after an unsuccessful attempt to do
an online banking transaction. Bovi is seated opposite him. The man is
startled by his presence. Again, Bovi asks if it is the bank down the road, by
the…… The man also confirms his guess. He introduces him to Diamond bank by
saying if he cannot bank anywhere, anytime, he need a new bank. He then hands
over his(Bovi’s) ATM to the man. Bovi leaves.

Oh my God.
If only Honourable Patrick Obahiagbon can help with some grammatical huhu haha
to dissect the tabon tabon of this advert infinitum? LOL.
Who wrote
this script? Who directed this piece? I am sorry. In as much as I understand
they wanted to take advantage of the humour a comedian like Bovi brings to the
table, they should at least write a script that can be defended as coherent and
realistic. Other than that, why not just make your work purely fictional like
indomitables. If you want your advert to reflect every day living, then it has
to make every day sense. Not when you are trying to put other banks below your
as per rating should you goof like this.
I am sure by
now, some of our dear readers would have picked out the goofs and gbagauns but
let me highlight a few.
Gbagaun 1
Bovi wore
three different outfits, one for each of the location. This signifies that each
scene was probably different days at different neighborhoods. How come the bank
remained down the road, by the………..? Did the bank keep moving to every road Bovi went? Or did he keep coming back to the same road daily to haunt the same bank,
same branch?
